Facts for Guests- We like saying "YES"

Can I fish from a wheelchair? Yes

On every outing, we have the required muscle to safely lift you onto the boat from the dock should you need assistance. We have served many guests needing this transfer assistance. You can of course fish from your chair and have room to move about the 50ft Wound Tight.

Can I bring a service dog? Yes

Service dogs are welcome on our outings for guests.

Can I bring a friend, family member or caretaker? Yes

Whomever you need to ensure you enjoy the day, bring them along. Even if they are just your ride.

Are there restrooms? Yes

There is a tackle shop near the dock and handicap accessible docks and bathrooms.

Will you cancel for bad weather? Yes

Our Captain will assess the wind direction and storms for every outing and convey to Bob who will convey to guests if the event should need to be cancelled. It does happen about once every other year. If it gets canceled you are welcome to try and come again.

Do you catch other fish besides rockfish? Yes

It depends on what is biting but we do on occasion catch other types of fish on the bay inclusive of Blue, Spot, Spanish Mackerel along with the occasional outlyers

Will I get to keep my catch? Yes

For every outing we will bring a small cooler at a minimum for you to take home your catch. You can choose to have the entire fish, parts of the fish, such as the head, or intestines or just the filets. Our experienced mates will prep just how you ask. If you need the entire fish, we will have larger coolers available. There is always plenty of ice on the boat as well for making sure your catch stays cool for your trip home.

Do you have all of the supplies needed for fishing? Yes

Our boats are fully stocked with an array of tackle prepped and ready for use by our experienced mates. There is a full size restroom in the bow of the boat. We recommend you come dressed for whatever season we are in.

Will I be fed? Yes

For every outing we typically cater from Wegman's a great spread of morning snacks and a full lunch. There is plenty of food and any leftovers can be taken home in your coolers. We will have drinks as well on ice and can accommodate any special requests. A fresh box of Joe is brought each morning (sometime donated for free by the Dunkins in Maryland we use) and there is an onboard Keurig machines for any flavor you might want to bring.

Are there local accommodations? Yes

The current harbor location for the Wound Tight is Rod n Reel Marina. There are accommodation onsite and if you are in need of this instead of making an early morning drive, just ask. If we have the funding, we will support it.

Is the marina driveable from Quantico and/or Walter Reed? Yes

We are typically an hour drive to the Marina from either location. We recommend planning an extra 15 minutes and taking it slow on some of the roads where there are frequent dear crossings.

Does the boat have amenities? Yes

Our boat is equipped with state of the are fish finders, radar, heat, air conditioning and has a comfortable cabin which can seat the entire guest list.

Is it okay to not show? Yes

Our team understands the challenges our guests may face getting released from last minute changes in your commands schedules, appointments or other responsibilities and does not in the slightest get upset if you can not make an event. If you need to cancel, for whatever reason, rest assured you are more than welcome to join us on a future outing. We are here only for our guests and will be happy to take just one servicemember fishing should all others cancel.

Can I fish again if I have been before? Yes

We coordinate the majority of our events through the event coordinators at both Watler Reed National Medical Center and Quantico's Wounded Warrior Regiment. You can contact them directly to get on their event outing blasts.

Do we look into special requests? Yes

We understand your situation may require some special requests. Just ask, and we will do what we can to accommodate.
